Re: Random, Miscellaneous, Anything Else

idk maybe it is but in my head it was just like something like this :

Yeah that's how I understood your code. It is computing the area under the graph of a function that is shaped like quarter a circle (from Pythagorean theorem: f(x) = sqrt(1 - x^2) ) -- that is integration. Monte Carlo by ...

Re: Random, Miscellaneous, Anything Else

althou i did a nerdy shit with π once, i came up with my own program to calculate π i came up with it while I was in a feverish state last summer unable to sleep because of the heat

#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdint.h>

int main() {
uint64_t max = 2000000000;
uint64_t max2 = max*max;

Re: What film(s) have you recently watched?

Just watched Boiling Point (2021) , a British one-shot movie following the staff of a 5 star restaurant, revealing what's really going on behind the scenes of such business (and probably any business in general), liked it very much and recommend.

One-shots are always fun and interesting. I ...

Re: Random, Miscellaneous, Anything Else

Random question for you guys: what is your party trick?

For me it's probably knowing like 20+ digits of pi, I memorized it once as a challenge. Something I'd like to learn is blindfold chess -- I've now been able to somewhat keep track of the board but I sweat like hell and only won blindfolded ...

Re: Positive results of vidya

I think the much bigger modern forces giving kids depression are things like social media and short form video content and news, though modem big budget games do suck ass.

You are right and I'd just like to add that what I meant was mostly online games that practically ARE social media/networks ...

Re: What movie have you seen the most?

I would say Pulp Fiction and Les Visiteurs :happy: They are probably my top favorite movies but it's also the fact that they're a classic with my family and we like to rewatch them often. I have probably seen Pelíšky too many times as well as they air it each year on Christmas and/or new year and ...

Re: Positive results of vidya

Certainly there are many benefits, with the caveat of "healthy balance" with other activities. For me for example what I know of English I owe practically all to games (and the fact that I was lazy and didn't care about story in games so I never used localization mods). Besides that my whole life ...

Re: /mg/ - Mathematics General

Small thing I noticed when plotting functions: since tangent and hyperbolic sine look very similar to arkus sine (inverse of sine), plotting tan(sin(x)) and sinh(sin(x)) gives you a weird approximation of a perfectly straight triangle wave that you (logically) get when you plot asin(sin(x)). If you ...
