If I can be so bold as to call this a "painting", this is a bunch of hands stenciled in Cueva de las Manos in Argentina by prehistoric people. It really shook me when I first looked at it. It's probably the strongest reaction I've ever had to a painting. Actually, a lot of the time when I look at it, I don't think much of it, but other times I think it's one of the most haunting things I've ever seen.
These are great, also give me the chills, especially the ones that capture now extinct animals:

Werner Herzog has a wonderful documentary on this called Cave of Forgotten Dreams. It's well known but maybe someone who reads this hasn't seen it yet. If you haven't, it's highly recommended :)
