Back when I was still on Window$ I used Notepad++ for programming (and still used it via WINE when I was on Linux Mint). Then I learned how to use Vim and just started using that. I forgot if I tried any other text editors in between that, but all I know is that I stuck with Vim. I don't really care much about the fact I use Vim specifically, either. I'd probably be using Nano if I stuck onto that first.
I am some dude. A semi-nomad of Teh Internetz. A rascal, if you will.

I use vis. It is vi + Plan 9’s structural regular expressions.

Right now I'm using vim. Not Neovim or any other fork of vim. Just vim. I use vim with the default config and no extra plugins or anything. The reason I don't use a .vimrc is because if I were to ever switch to another machine that also had vim installed, I'd expect it to be the default setup anyway. Sometimes I even use the hjkl keys myself and though I'm not very fond of it because I've been a ga(y)mer for so long using wasd, it works. I guess I could also use gnu emacs with the standard key setup but I think pressing the ctrl key often would easily cramp up my finger so that's a hard pass.

Speaking of editors though, I'm not going to recommend vim to anyone. Or any text editor. I just used vim because I was once a follower of luke and I listened to his wisdom and thought vim was so great and superior when it's really just...okay. Vim doesn't blow me away. I just kept on using it now because I've memorised the modes and it runs in a terminal, otherwise I'd use probably use nano. Compared to nano, I guess it's also fine. It does what it needs to. I can't believe I still use vim for as long as I have and I don't have much of an opinion on it now as much as I used to, or if I even did have one when I started using it. I just use vim because It Works.

Before vim, I used Atom when I was still using guis, then vscodium, then geany, then kate which came with kde, then finally vim. But because I use the terminal all the time now I can't ever leave the terminal and I just open vim when I need to edit text. If I stopped using linux and moved to 9front or something, I'd stop using vim and just learn how to use sam or whatever plan 9's editor is. I was thinking of openbsd but nowadays I'm not so sure now, I'll see.
Is trustfulness a sin?
