Currently watching my daily dose of Spanish and the lady in the video is speaking about something interesting that I'd like to ask you here. The question is: does your personality change when you speak(/think) in different languages? If so, how much and in what ways?
For me it's a little bit I'd say, but not extremely. A language is, after all, a culture and you adopt that culture as you learn the language, and they are inseparable. But I feel it's more like what sounds funny in one language versus another, what feelings are easier to express in one language versus another -- this can change my thinking, but not turn me from an introvert to an extrovert for example. In relation to this I remember my personality used to be much different in MMO video games than in real life for example, but that's a different story because the game is literally about role playing and being someone else. Anyway, I'm curious to hear from people speaking Asian languages for example, maybe the phenomenon can be stronger there because they're more foreign, I don't know.

Myself does not change, especially because I usually don't think in words. But I would look different in different languages.
