Putting that subject to rest, I'm curious how other people here practise minimalism in their lives, and to what degree? I would say I have some tendency to it because I believe the fundamentals of good living include having less, though if you look at my office area, 'minimalist' would be the last thing you would think of.

Recently, I try not to buy many physical items that aren't strict necessities. I'm lucky enough to have a pretty damn good collection of otaku goods already, so I have the luxury of being able to have enough to be very satisfied with already. But these days I don't really keep up with what figures are out there even though I greatly respect the medium. It would just breed too much FOMO. Would rather keep drawing cute girls on my own and if I happen to see a cool figure I can afford in person, maybe pick it up.

This is because for me it's important to be able to move and the more physical goods you own the easier it is to get bogged down in one location. Don't get me wrong, I don't wish for a fully "nomadic" lifestyle. I want to settle down somewhere. But it is nice to not feel totally bogged down and to be able to move most of the stuff you need for a price that isn't prohibitively expensive (if still not CHEAP necessarily... especially with the price of travel being what it is with gas prices what they are today). A major advantage to minimal living.

Drawing your own pictures can be a great replacement for consumerist tendencies with cute girl characters IMO. You will appreciate what you create more, even if sometimes it looks shitty.

i generally support people creating their own stuff a lot more now considering how big it is for people to only relate through consumerism at the minimum, and it's a lot more entertaining to discuss creation. plus, i've been overly disillusioned at most media and how uninspired and pacifying it generally is, along with other words i don't have to describe them right now, and creating is just such a good breath of fresh air, even if i'm keeping my art personal.
the biggest hurdle is motivation depending on what you're creating because drawing... kinda sucks ass to do if i'm not in the mood, especially if drawing new ones and considering character design. writing is more of my speed for now, going between some loose concepts of characters to solo rpgs and a personal wiki/blog/schizopost.

I don't wish for a fully "nomadic" lifestyle.

i would but it's pretty troublesome and requires a lot of maintenance since people don't leave you alone in most places. plus where i am, almost any patch of grass could be just someone's backyard and i don't like having to ask strangers to use land, or ask strangers in general.

I'm in my post-minimalism phase now. I was once quite a diehard minimalist in the past. But I have concluded that Gnostic mindset is not good and the material world is magickal. Though I still have strong minimalist habits.

In everyday life I'm inclined to distributism instead of minimalism. I'm not a Catholic but I don't think one necessarily has to be a Catholic for that. I support independent craftsmanship, small family businesses, indie artists, cooperatives, &c. While still objecting mindless mass consumerism.
