Your neurotic/autistic/weird habits

Post by Amlux »

This is my major one. I made a graphic to explain it:

This has become so second-nature to me that I have to actively force myself NOT to do it. 10/10 way to eat candies, would recommend. Maximizes your ability to enjoy the distinction between each flavor and crescendo towards the best flavors.

This is hands down the most autistic thing I've ever read :orz: It's almost on par with a Numberphile video, you should post this to mathematics general and see if anyone can find a more optimal way to eating candies. No but really, by autistic I actually mean awesome.

Back in my most autistic days of high school, I sometimes tilted my head to turn around while walking straight forward. To say exactly, my foot straight forward. As if my head was a steering wheel. This works. My body naturally goes in that direction.

I also tried turning my head directly toward the destination while walking straight forward. This also works.

But I gave up when I became far less autistic.

I think it is not good to eat least liked ones first. Because marginal utility diminishes. The second gummy is not as good as the first one even if they are objectively the same.

Maybe eating least liked ones first would give me stable pleasure. But I prefer to increase the maximum.

Also to list some of my autistic habits:
  • I physically cover my ears to avoid hearing ads and news, this looks extra odd when I'm in a shop and people give me weird looks. Recently one lady asked me if I'm okay and need help.
  • I love tables, lists and comparing data and shit, I make tables for various data for fun such as animal statistics: the greatest recorded multiple birth, highest recorded age and so on. I also like to compare the same article across different encyclopedias or looks for differences in manual pages on different operating systems and stuff like that.
  • I am a little OCD about various things like food, I now have dieting days when I basically eat just a small lunch and maybe an apple as a dinner, and two "party days" (Tuesday and Friday) when I am allowed to eat yummy things like salty sticks, but I must start eating EXACTLY at 8 PM. I have some rituals I do before sleep that include something like a prayer that I made up and it's not even for superstition or religious reason, it's just some sort of habit I guess.
  • Probably more, I can't remember everything now.

The only weird habit I can think of is that on square tiled floors I occasionally step on specific tiles like how a knight moves in chess.

  • when i watch youtube on mobile i rapidly switch between youtube shorts and the video i'm watching. it honestly takes longer to do this than watch the ad but I HATE ADS :rawk:
  • i would make a list of all the times i made someone mad, and say "sorry" that amount of times. i'd never tell then why i was saying sorry because i was affriaid they'd remember, become upset or mad, and i would have to say sorry again
  • i would have yandere intrusive thoughts about (mostly faceless) male youtubers...and dick gumshoe (ace attorney), for some reason. i wasn't actually attracted to any of them. my compulsion was to have my brother squeeze my head to make it stop

This might not be all that weird but I bite the inside of my mouth and lips until they bleed, scratch every bug bite until it disintegrates, and chew on the outside of my nails. I had my leg so scratched up a few weeks ago that my sister thought i was self harming. I'm otherwise pretty well groomed but i probably look like a drug addict going through withdrawal sometimes. I've tried to brake the habit many times because it's kinda gross but i've never been able to.

When i watch youtube on mobile i do it though the brave browser app. It has a built in ad block and options to turn off youtube shorts. It took a little bit to get used to it but ive never looked back. The only issue ive ran into is that i can't turn on Japanese subtitles on videos but i just use the opportunity to practice my listening skills.

I have a habit of "scripting" (what my therapist said it was), where I repeat something unprompted, usually expecting a response from someone such as repeating it back, or finishing the reference (It makes me very happy when people respond.). The phrase is usually something I pick up from a show/book/movie/interaction. Sometimes it's not in English. It can be long portions of words as well, my mom says how she remembered me rehearsing Chinese stories to her as a kid, and expecting her to complete them. (Sorry mom)

For a period of time, I kept saying "Gayniggers" to my close friends because we all rewatched "Gayniggers from Outer Space," and I'd expect them to complete the title and got very happy when they did.

I'm very lucky I'm able to supress the urge to do this in public and to people I don't know.

Very weird too (please substitute weird for awesome and based). Would you say this is something like a borderline Tourette syndrome?

This reminds me that I talk to animals both in human and their language, I often talk with chicken I take care of at my parents' house. Sometimes I don't notice a neighbour's at the fence and he hears me conversing with a chicken about how her day is going and then making chicken sounds to make her feel more comfortable. He surely think I'm like 80 IQ retard, but I think he's used to it now. I spend more time with the chickens (and other animals) than with people, I've made something like army ranks for them that follow their hierarchy in their pecking order -- they are older chicken we adopt from factories who come in bad shape and often don't live extremely long (we don't kill them for meat, just collect eggs, but they're prone to dying), so giving them names is more difficult.
