Hi everyone!
My academic background is in math and neuroscience but my real interest right now is in philosophy and 'consciousness studies', for lack of a better term.
I got seriously into philosophy after reading Bergson, Deleuze, Husserl during my neuroscience studies and by contrast found that my chosen field was woefully unequipped to explain consciousness, phenomenology, the origin of the image of the external world, etc.
I found that these thinkers attempted to provide a serious framework for questions the neurosciences had no good way of answering yet, let alone frame properly (not trying to bash my field too much, a lot of good work is being done there. I have just developed an aversion to reductionist stem-lords trying to explain the human mind lol).
This spiralled into engagement with the usual suspects like Heidegger, Wittegenstein, Hegel and so on.
Otherwise I spend my free time learning new math, woodworking, drawing, reading, watching films .. the usual suspects in these parts I guess :-)
I discovered pantsuprophet through the addictive circuit of repeatedly clicking 'surprise me' on wiby.
Looking forward to making this a nice place for discussion.

Very glad to see all the new people joining! I can't respond to everyone but glad to hear from Arlune since I want to make it clear that this place isn't exclusively for people who are into things like otaku culture. As long as you can tolerate those, you're welcome to join for any overlap we may have. And I am glad to see you add some variety to the user base!

Hi, I'm drummyfish, have been following Amlux for a while and am a big enjoyer of the pantsusphere. I'm 35, live in Europe, like to program, make free culture art and do other stuff on the Internet. My knowldge of Japanese culture and philosophy is extremely limited, rather on a baby level compared to most people around here, so please take this into account when talking to me, you have to treat me like a child AKA please ELI5 everything otherwise I'm lost. I love to learn new things however and besides that, Amlux is just an awesome friend and a great guy, as is this whole community, so really there's no reason to not be around here. Thanks for doing this Amlux and double thanks for using phpBB and not the cancer known as Discourse 8-)
EDIT: Forgot the questions. Sorry, here goes:
How did you find the Oppai Oracle or Pantsu Prophet?
Knew about the site and YT channel for a long time, initially found the website via wiby's random page I think.
What are your hobbies and interests?
programming, math, animals, minimalism, making public domain art (pixel art, 3D models, music, ...), trying new stuff (chess, writing, language learning, ...) and a lot more
What are you reading/playing/watching at the moment and what do you think?
I'm reading the Bible for shit and giggles and an encyclopedia for the same reason, I don't think I'll finish either.

There was a Hegel Discord server I used to lurk in that praised the videos on Heidegger, a thinker I never fully engaged with at the time. I still view those videos as foundational on the way I view the world and myself even though I don't read Heidegger as much as I used to.
What are your hobbies and interests?
I used to create music but in the past few years I've slowed down my output considerably, mostly due to other responsibilities. There's a mixture of interests but it's mostly books, films, and shmups that I engage with when I find the time to.
What are you reading/playing/watching at the moment and what do you think?
I just finished Lacan's Seminar IV and found it very complex as with most of Lacan's works that I've read (took me about two months to finish). What I gleaned from it is the idea that the lack of an object can generate multiple forms and permutations of lack within the subject. So the lack in a subject can be productive in the shaping of fantasy which I found very interesting.

Like most, I discovered Amlux through the Tractatus lecture.
My interests are fiction, music, video games and philosophy. Unlike many here it seems, I'm more interested in analytic philosophy rather then continental. It's not the case that I'm against it in any way, I simply struggle with engaging with it, but in fact, I'm very curious about it.
Some views I hold: Atheism, Sentiocentric Antinatalism, Mereological Nihilism, Moral Anti-Realism, Veganism, No Free Will, Naturalism.
I lean towards Negative Utalitarian ethics.
My understaning of Veganism and Antinatalism is different than the most common interpretations.
For my music and film takes I invite you here:

My favorite piece of fiction is Jojo's Bizzare Adventure Part 7: Steel Ball Run. I love the JJBA and HxH series, and a couple more anime and manga, though I've not seen/read a ton. I read books too, though at a snail's pace and so far I have read few, but I can say that my favorite author so far has definitely been McCarthy.
Interesting that so many fellows before me named math as their interest. I'm currently not studying it, but I wrote high school exams from math and physics on the extended level, so I'm familirized with the basics. Currently I'm studying data engineering.

Hi! I'm clownmuffle!
I found the Prophet through the Tractatus video, like most people. That video really is just extraordinary. Anyway, I was instantly obsessed, I glutted on the uploaded lectures, made a habit out of lurking the streams, and now after watching that video about swapping your streams over to your website I'm crawling out of my dark little corner and saying hi. Hi!
I really like literature. Reading and writing, but mostly reading, because I'm in the habit of it. I like the modernists, webfic, and David Foster Wallace. I don't read as much nonfiction as people here seem to, although I don't neglect it. Oh, I like math and stuff too, and I especially liked it in high school, but now that I've graduated my passion for that department has waned. I'm decent with computers and have been pottering around with C++ on weird Linux distributions for seven years now.
Right now I'm watching Bloom Into You with my girlfriend. It's fun, even if romance isn't usually my thing. I'm also reading for the first time Moby Dick, which is just otherworldly. I think I'm discovering within myself some kind of weird fascination with the sea...? It's weird!!

I’m currently reading Charles Pinter’s A Book of Abstract Algebra
Nice! I have that book myself, I'm planning to get back to my math books and going through them before my university starts!
I'm only through the refresher appendices and most of chapter 1 but i really like it so far. It's a rare pleasure for me to be able to spend a lot of time understanding my math/physics books so i plan on milking it out all summer and just doing 1-2 pages a day. What math books/subjects are you planning on doing?

Sounds like a nice pace! I stopped my daily math consumption for almost a year now and it kinda bums me out. Pinter's Algebra seems like a good re-entry for me since it has many trivial problems to warm up with. I'm also planning to go through some chapters in Tao's Analysis I. Ideally I'd also be doing linear algebra, like gilbert strang's introduction to LA or LADR, but I only have Hoffman and Kunze Linear Algebra on me and I find it rather hard to get through so I'll probably just stick with Pinter and Tao.

Everyone here is a math whiz and I would probably have trouble passing a high school algebra exam...

Whatup bros, I'm Saint, I found Amlux's site because he joined my Discord server and someone found his website from that somehow and sent it to me. Though I'm surprised I hadn't heard of him before because I feel like there's only a small amount of "westerners who know Japanese and read VNs" on the internet.
I'm just an autistic retard (diagnosed) college dropout that streams/records myself playing obscure games (Mikennemonic was my inspiration if you've ever watched his videos). Somehow I've managed to teach myself to read Japanese solely to play untranslated obscure games, read eroge, and understand raw H-manga, despite never stepping foot on the island of Japan. Though I've kinda lost motivation in recent years and don't really engage with Japanese media as much as I did before. Compared to other people here I have basically no interest in philosophy. Whenever I try to engage with it it just seems like concepts I've already touched upon randomly in my own introspection in the past with like one million added words to pad it out. Maybe someone here can explain the appeal because I don't get it at all. Oh yeah and also I'm pretty sure I have musical anhedonia or some shit so I don't really like music either lol. Besides specific VGM music like what was on the PC-98. Don't know if there's any hobbies I share with most people here beyond video games.
Recently moved to my own self-hosted streaming platform (link in signature) which Amlux got inspired from and decided to try himself. I actually had tried this nearly 9 years ago on a website called cement-c.net (you can put it in Wayback Machine but it only shows the banners at the bottom), but it was extremely scuffed, couldn't handle more than 5 people considering it wasn't a VPS and only used my home upload speed, and also the embedded flash player I was using to stream (called Castamp) barely worked for some people. Even at the time it was supposed to evoke a sort of nostalgic feel for old stream sites like Vinesaucevidya or Joowz. Luckily my new site is perfect and even allows people to chat anonymously which is what I missed about those sites. If you didn't know back when Vinesauce used to use Chatango for chatting you could be anonymous and your name would be anonXXXX where XXXX was four random numbers. And also you could say whatever you wanted as long as you weren't spamming. It's fucking crazy to think back and compare to how bad things are on Twitch and other platforms these days. Kick even has an AI moderator thing you can't turn off all the way. Livestream.com was also pretty nostalgic for me, you could be a "guest" chatter which was basically anonymous although if you swore at all it would turn your text to asterisks lol. Anyways my new stream site is pretty cool but the software is a bit limiting and I had to change the source code and compile my own binary to fix some things (like having chat always be enabled). And also do a lot of CSS and JS fuckery (which AI helped with because I'm a shit programmer).
Recently have been streaming Ultima Underworld (the Japan-only PS1 version) with someone in the chat who's played it before helping me which would have been impossible otherwise, probably gonna finish it the next time I stream. Did a Nethack stream recently which was pretty fun, was the first time I've played it in about 12 years. I've been playing it some more offstream and trying to learn all the strategy, would be fun to go for an Ascension (winning the game) as a nice gaming accomplishment goal. (Did I mention I've beaten I Wanna Kill The Kamila 3? I'm also maxed on Oldschool Runescape. It's hard to find anything challenging enough when you're already a Gaming God...)
