Is it? It wasn't that expensive, but it was some time ago now -- I actually intend to use it as my desktop when the one I have now breaks (it's 10 years old, could last a little more still). I have two older Raspberries as well, one at my caravan and the other is a spare (prepper reasons). Besides that I've hoarded a lot of old cheap laptops from pawn shops, but these aren't good for servers. I am not extremely poor either, don't worry :D For me one time expenses don't pose such issues, but given my income I can't afford high regular expenses like rent, gas and insurance for example, so that's where I turn the frugality knob to the max.

the pi 5 is so recent i didn't even know it existed i thought we were still at pi 4

That's the spirit, I actually love it. Sadly I think someone told me about the 5 against my will (like I have told you now, sorry :headache:).
