haven't been into 2hu in a long while (been about eight years? i only got into it through undertale) so i only ranked them from the games i played before i got utterly bored of it (6 - 16). i'm glad futo is there because she was my discord namesake for the longest time, until i gutted it

Nine of those top 10 are excellent choices! (never been a Sumireko fan) An interestingly consistent white/pink/purple color scheme too.
I also more or less stopped liking Touhou after 16, but everything up to then is among my favorite games ever made. You should play the PC-98s if you haven't. Well, least 3-5 as 1 and 2 are kind of rough... if historically invaluable.

I have a rather conventional list of favs. Cutoff at 30 because I largely felt somewhat warm -> neutral for large portions, so it made a lot of ties. I think you get a good grasp on my tastes from top 30, though. I excluded games 16-onward since I haven't played them.

This year the only notable shifts happened to Parsee (65=>7), Ran (23=>9) and Chen (74=>20). Everything else is pretty much irrelevant.
Komachi and Byakuren? Another fan of Touhou bewbage, I see!

Heh, I wouldn't say that they are my favourite characters because of their chest size, but it's not like I'm complaining about that. It's just Byakuren is one of the most conceptually intersting characters in Touhou franchise (and my affection for her is enforced by the short story about her I wrote for a fanzine, so I kinda grew attached) and Komachi... she is literally me, because I also need to be hit over the head to get me to do something.

The chest size thing is ridiculously exaggerated anyway. Anytime ZUN's pen slips and makes a few pixels of roundness around the chest fans are desperate to draw some big watermelons. (Not that I'm complaining.)
I also think Byakuren is a conceptually great character (even though the bitch just killed my run on her last spell ). Very curious if you'd ever be up to sharing that story?

I would love to, but there are several asterisks. Firstly, the fanzine isn't published yet, and there is a gentlemen's agreement that the materials must not be uploaded until the books will be delivered to their owners (which would be the beginning of October, no less). Secondly, I should translate it into English, the feat I started but quickly got overwhelmed by other stuff. I don't want to do it with AI because this short story is the only good piece of literature that I managed to write, so I want all creative control over its content. The only thing I will say is that the story is about the struggle between Byakuren's past as a magus and the ideal of bodhisattva, which she strives to be.
All in all, to answer your question, I'll try to publish it here (and on AO3, for that matter), but it won't be soon.
