i just finished setting up a new machine (actually one that was in my closet for years)

I wanted a machine that was as unpowerful as possible so that I could have a machine to read mails and IRC without any heat generation at all, the pinebook pro is one of the worst machine I ever tried to work on but it seemed suitable for this

it was a struggle getting an OS to run on that thing but in the end I managed to get Debian 14 with disk encryption, it seems xlibre actually make a huge difference in terms of snappiness compared to xorg on this machine

I am an enjoyer of xsetroot and its 1-bit bitmaps as you can see

Sorry for no otaku media.

This is my wallpaper and the default screen. I'm not a fan of black themes and I used a white wallpaper instead. But that made me confuse whether a terminal is open or not. So I use this black background.

This is my terminal. I use st. I use Plan 9 rc shell.

This is how I browse this forum. I use links2.

I use the golden ratio for the tiling. I use bspwm.

By the way the colour of the cursor bar is Alice Blue (#F0F8FF). I like it.

I'm glad my forum seems tolerable to browse on a minimal browser. I haven't gotten to the level of using cool minimal browser like that so I haven't optimized my site for it, but it looks like it gets the job done. I appreciate much of the minimal stuff you've shown but I can't lie, a white-on-black terminal makes me deeply uncomfortable and my eyes hurt just thinking about it. :D

I also decided to move this thread to the technology section to avoid the problem of "sorry for no otaku media," since really we want to encourage screenshots one way or another.

such a tragedy to find so many people who fell for the arch linux meme, thinking they found a minimalist distro when it actually is the exact opposite

What do you recommend for a minimal distro?
